Never sit in the chair of a stylist who is not experienced in handling natural hair. Detangling natural hair when it is dry can lead to extreme breakage and unnecessary damage and splitting of the hair cuticles, which can cause split ends and fairy knots. I personally like to detangle my hair when it is eiether damp or wet in the shower with or without a conditioner with great slip. Additionally, you can also apply some conditioner or an oil of your choice to your hair and sit with a plastic cap for 20-60 minutes, preferably with heat and then begin your detailing process.
